Onshore Wind Project located in mid-Finland. Construction of 17 foundations for 6,2 MW turbines.
At SIC, we deliver turnkey solutions for renewable energy projects, managing both civil and electrical scopes with a strong focus on project management, HSEQ, sustainability and risk mitigation. Our structured approach ensures safe, high-quality, and on-time delivery, minimising risks and optimising resources for both single-source and hybrid energy projects.
With extensive experience in renewable energy civil works, SIC offers the construction and installation of substations. As a vital component of a hybrid energy park, substations integrate multiple renewable sources, ensuring optimal use of the grid connection and stability.
Tree clearing: SIC undertakes forest clearing in connection with the establishment of roads and sites for a substation. The work is carried out by competent and locally based logging companies.
Site facilities: SIC establishes and manages site facilities according to customer requirements, including compounds, heating, and electricity at the site. We can operate individually owned compounds or shared facilities for contractors and suppliers, ensuring efficient project execution.
Levelling the ground: For the substation construction, SIC ensures precise ground levelling to create a stable and even foundation for substation.
Roads & hardstands: SIC designs and constructs the roads and hardstands tailored to the substation layout and customer specifications.
Foundation: With our expertise in casting, we can deliver on-site casting or precast solutions to the high-voltage equipment in a substation.
Equipment placement: SIC manages the placement and installation of the high voltage equipment and E-House/MEHO building to ensure the work is done efficiently and safely.
Laying cable: In collaboration with our competent subcontractors, SIC lays cables and installs ducts for power cables and optical fibers, ensuring reliable connectivity in the substation area.
Civil works form the physical foundation of a substation. This includes earthworks, foundations, cable trenches, roads, drainage systems, and other structural elements that support the electrical equipment. Well-executed civil works ensure that the substation is stable, safe, and able to operate reliably for many years.
SIC specialises in the civil works scope of substation projects. This includes planning and executing the structural and ground works needed to prepare the site for electrical installations. Our role is to ensure that the infrastructure is delivered according to project specifications and ready for the next stages of the project.
In turnkey substation projects, SIC manages the full scope of civil works from planning to execution. This includes site preparation, earthworks, foundations, cable trenches, drainage, and access roads.
Our teams coordinate closely with engineers, electrical contractors, and other project partners to ensure that the civil works are delivered according to the project design and timeline. This integrated approach helps ensure that the infrastructure is ready for electrical installation and that the different project phases connect smoothly.
Clear planning and coordination are key. Substation projects often involve multiple contractors and technical disciplines, so timelines must be aligned from the start. Regular communication, structured project management, and clear responsibilities help ensure that civil works progress according to plan and that delays are minimised.
Safety is built into every stage of all projects we manage. This includes clear procedures, risk assessments, and continuous supervision on site. We follow a structured HSEQ structure to ensure that safety standards are followed and that everyone working on the project understands the requirements.
Project preparation and transparent communication are essential to meeting this requirement. Clear scope definitions, detailed planning, and ongoing monitoring of progress help reduce the risk of unexpected costs. When potential challenges are identified early, they can often be addressed before they affect the overall budget.
Substation projects often involve several suppliers and technical teams. Clear coordination between contractors helps ensure that work phases connect smoothly and that everyone works according to the same project plan and timeline.
